The South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) successfully hosted its Biennial General Meeting (BGM) on the 27th of July 2024. The event, covering the period from 2022 to 2024, was a platform for members, partners, and community stakeholders to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the past two years.

Key outcomes of the meeting included:

  • A review of SDCEA’s environmental advocacy and community empowerment initiatives, highlighting successful campaigns against air pollution, industrial waste, and environmental justice.
  • The election of new committee members for the next term, with a focus on strengthening leadership and expanding outreach efforts.
  • Discussions on future strategies to combat climate change impacts, promote sustainable development, and ensure the continued protection of the South Durban communities.
